About Alex

Alex has played for audiences for over 35 years and has worked with recording artists. As a lead guitarist in the 70's & 80's, he was one of the best, stunning the audiences with fast polished electric guitar solos without using too many guitar pedals and other distortion gadgets. For the most part, he plays clean using natural small Fender tube amp overdrive in order to retain tone. Today he found his own style of smooth great tone electric & acoustic guitar playing and vocals. His sound ranges from laid back to energetic. His recently wrote a new set of inspiring songs identifying the pressures of the information age. Hence, his 2 most requested original songs are Lay Back and Heart of a Woman.

Music career of Alex

Alex started playing guitar when he was 16 and progressed slowly until
he began to listen to blues players including B.B. King, Muddy Waters and
Eric Clapton. From 1969 through 1972 he became sought after lead guitarists
in New England area. During that time he had an opportunity to sit in and fill in for
the famous Paul Butterfield Blues Band. He co-found a band called Mantiev ( Viet Nam backwards) which became a very popular band in western Massachusetts.

Alex served in the US Navy from 1972-1975 and formed the Miss Judy’d Blues
Band with the best players in southern Maine. The band was featured on local radio shows and filled clubs. After the Navy, Alex spent 4 years in college to earn a
B.S. in Physics. During that time he played in various bands and spent 2 summers
in Nashville playing spots in the Broadway Honky Tonks!. During the 80's Alex served as a guest guitarist in the famous Boston based James Montgomery Blues Band.

After college, he quit playing for a while to work as an engineer. When he came back to Massachusetts he formed the band American Tradition which is still together today (without Alex) under the name Shut up and Dance.

In recent years, Alex spent time as a sit in guitarist for local bands, performing
solo acoustic gigs and writing songs in Massachusetts , Ohio and now Alabama. His collected experience has provided him with repeat performances by popular demand.
Alex also has a professional career as business improvement consultant working for L3 Communications.
